Pros and cons of ceramic cookware

-      Comes in various colors and is durable

One of the major cons of many materials is that they do not have variety in colors. Ceramic cookware come in many different shapes, sizes and colors. They can be used for decorative purposes also if placed on a shelf as they are very aesthetically pleasing. The enable coating on the bottom helps to make ceramic cookware resistant as it helps in avoiding chipping and other signs of erosion.

-       Heat resistant

Unlike other materials they can be used in high temperatures as they distribute heat evenly throughout the utensil instead of letting it be focused on one specific spot. They do not break under too much heat which reduces the cooking time, drastically.

-      Energy saver and environment friendly

The making of a ceramic utensil does not use any artificial ingredient instead it uses naturally available ingredients such as sand, which makes it very environment friendly. One of the benefits of a ceramic cookware is that it takes less time to heat up which results in quickly cooked food. It saves gas and other resources which are required.

-      Can be used in any cooking medium

Since ceramic pots and pans are non-reactive they can be used in any cooking medium, such as gas stove, oven, microwave, they can be put inside the refrigerator as well.

-      Lightweight

Since the base has a coating it makes it extremely lightweight and it can retain all the nutritional value of the food because there is no seepage of any sort of bad element into the food. It can be used to store warm food because it retains heat causing it to be warm for longer periods of time.

Disadvantages of ceramic cookware

-      Durability of the coating

The durability of the coating on a ceramic cookware is often brought into question as once it breaks there is no going back. The pan will not support any kind of cooking. It cannot be coated as well to make it non-stick which forces one to buy a brand new pan ultimately.

-      Flimsy

Ceramic pans are lightweight and easy to transport. Because of the thin metal surface, this is also unsuitable for heavyweight recipes. If you overheat the pot, you may need to wrap it. This severely restricts the cooking process. As a result, you must have some extra cookware in your kitchen.

-      Not dishwasher friendly

The coating of the pan may be damaged if they are put in a dishwasher. It is recommended to use soap and water to clean them for longer durability. Thus, they are not considered dishwater friendly.

-      Are not compatible with other utensils

When cooking with ceramic cookware, you must avoid using any metal utensils. Because the surface of ceramic cookware is so delicate, special care must be taken. When cooking with ceramic utensils, it is best to use wooden or nylon products. You should also avoid using steel wool to clean the pots. In short, you must redecorate the entire kitchen and abandon all non-scratch items.

Cookware

-      Uneven surface

The nonstick surface of ceramic cookware is created using sand and Nano-particles. Despite the fact that they are all-natural ingredients, they can cause the surface to be uneven. Ceramic cookware, unlike other types of cookware, has a rough surface. All of this is irrelevant when cooking pasta or vegetables, but when you try to cook a steak, you run into issues. Heat does not always spread evenly, and cooking processes can become disorganized.

Thus, the usage of a ceramic cookware depends on the user considering both the pros and cons of the utensils.
